8. Cross-Fiber Friction Technique

The cross-fiber friction technique targets deeper tissues in your feet. Press your thumbs in a direction perpendicular to the muscle fibers in your foot. Start at the arch and work your way toward the toes, then back toward the heel. This method is particularly effective at breaking up adhesions and scar tissue that may have formed in the foot muscles. The cross-fiber motion reduces chronic tension patterns and improves tissue mobility. While this technique requires slightly more pressure than others, it should never cause pain. Focus on maintaining consistent, controlled movements throughout the massage.
