9. Water Marbling Basics

Unique, swirled patterns created by water marbling give every nail a small piece of art. Make sure your desk is draft-free and use room temperature filtered water. Pour drop polish colors into water to form concentric circles. Work fast before the water's surface dries under polish. Drawing through the polish rings, create patterns with a toothpick or nail art tool. Before you dip nails, guard your skin with liquid latex or tape. Under a 45-degree angle, submerge one nail at a time, holding for a few seconds. Between every nail, sweep the water surface. Though it takes time and effort, this method produces outstanding results.
