5. Traditional Navajo Cultural Immersion
Within the hallowed environment of Antelope Canyon, this unique encounter provides guests with a deep dive into real Navajo culture and customs. Starting with a traditional blessing ceremony at the canyon's entrance, this intensive program is run under direction by Navajo elders and cultural consultants. Learning about the great spiritual importance of the canyon to the Navajo people—who refer to it as "Tsé bighánílíní," meaning "the place where water runs through rocks"—participants The program consists in courses in basic Navajo language, displays of traditional crafts including weaving and silversmithing, and traditional storytelling events including tales about the canyon. Visitors learn about medicinal plants native to the area, help to prepare and share traditional Navajo dishes, and get to see the close relationship between the Navajo people and their ancestral grounds.
